Next each student was asked to recite the duas, that they had already learnt, to say before going to bed and after waking up.
They were introduced to the Islamic etiquettes of drinking water and were given a handout to post by the water dispenser in their homes so they can remember the etiquettes when drinking water.
Story Time:
The main lesson was a continuation of last week’s lesson about the story of Ibrahim AS. The students listened to the Nasheed ‘Story of Ibrahim’ by Dawud Wharnsby to remind them of the last lesson. Then Ismail’s AS story was introduced and his mother’s search for water and the Zamzam spring were described. The children were told about how Ibrahim AS and Ismail AS constructed the Kaaba and about the Black Stone that angel Jibrail brought from heaven to place on the Kaaba.
Many of the students had been to Mecca and were familiar with the Kaaba, Zamzam Spring and the hills of Safa and Marwa. These landmarks were presented to them in the form a model, which also included the other sacred sites that Muslims visit when performing the Hajj i.e. Mina, Arafat and Muzdalifa.
Using a small toy bus, the journey of Hajj was explained and then each student traced the journey by him/herself using the toy bus and markings on the model.
